Coronavirus Vaccination Programme

Update 15th March 2021

36,361 patients in Weymouth & Portland have received their first vaccine!

This week we are running 1st dose clinics on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st March from Weymouth Pavilion.

Second dose clinics are taking place Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th March from Weymouth Hospital.

The vaccination campaign is well underway in Weymouth and Portland through our local vaccination site which is run by all practices in Weymouth and Portland working together. Currently we are operating 2 vaccination sites – one at Weymouth Hospital and one at Weymouth Pavilion.

Running alongside our local service is the National Booking Service. This is accessed via calling 119 or by going to the Book or manage your coronavirus vaccination page on the NHS website. You may be invited to use the national booking service via letter or a text from ‘NHSvaccine’ before you hear from your GP surgery. Please be aware you will not be able to book an appointment at Weymouth Hospital or the Pavilion via this route.

Locally we are following the JCVI guidance on who to invite. Patients in the following groups are currently eligible to receive their vaccination at one of our Weymouth sites:

  • All those 50 years of age and over
  • Clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
  • All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which puts them at higher risk (including all those on the learning disability register)

Eligible patients will be invited to attend when it is their turn, usually via a link in a text message or a telephone call from your GP surgery or our central covid admin team. If you are in one of the above groups and have not yet been contacted then please phone your usual GP surgery as they will be able to book your appointment for you.

All patients currently aged 50 or over can also book their appointment at a mass vaccination centre. One of the nearest mass vaccination centres to us is the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).

We are also currently vaccinating our housebound patients – the majority of those in the eligible groups have been vaccinated.  We will continue to offer home visits to those who need one – please contact your usual GP surgery should you need this to be arranged.

Please note this vaccine is free! You will never be asked to pay for it.
