Covid-19 Rescue Packs – The Myth

We have been made aware of some inaccurate information circulating, regarding special rescue packs for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Please do not contact your GP practice for a rescue pack. You should continue to manage your condition in the usual way and if you feel you have symptoms of COVID-19, go to www.111.nhs.uk/covid-19 before doing anything else. Please read this helpful information from the British Lung Foundation.

You will note that there is no recommendation to have a rescue pack, as there is no evidence for their use and indeed there are concerns that steroids will reduce your immunity to fight off this virus.

Please be aware that we have been advised by the local pharmacies that repeat prescriptions will now take 7 days to be processed. Any acute medication for example antibiotics will be processed as quick as possible.

As of 24.03.2020 the surgery doors will remain locked. Our staff will be working hard inside to answer the phones, complete prescription requests and other admin tasks.Prescriptions will be sent electronically to your pharmacy of choice or posted to you. Med 3 sick notes if required, will also be sent via the post.

Only patients that have been triaged by our clinical team and need to be seen by a clinician will be let into the building. This is to help us to help you.

We appreciate your support at this challenging time.
